We love visiting the Brooklyn Botanic Garden at this time of year. They have an annual light show called Lightscape, where the gardens are full of various light and music installations. It's the perfect festive activity!
Every year, we go at least a couple times to the various holiday markets around Manhattan. The one at Bryant Park is the biggest. And, as a perk, there's an ice skating rink in the center!
Take a walk on the Brooklyn Height Promenade! We love taking our dog, Cooper, on this long walk along the East River, where you can see beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline. Along the way, we recommend stopping by L'Appartment 4F for a delicious French pastry. This place is somewhat famous for their croissant cereal, but we've never had this ourselves!
The New York Transit Museum is great for anyone who is interested to learn more about the history of the subway system. As an added benefit, it's super close to the wedding hotel! This is genuinely a fun and informative way to spend a couple hours. It's great for kids and adults alike.
If you're in the mood for a long and iconic walk, we recommend walking across the Brooklyn Bridge! The view will be especially nice if you walk from the Brooklyn side to the Manhattan side -- and once you've made it across, you'll be very close to Chinatown, so it would only make sense to get some dumplings or dim sum. If you're feeling dumplings, we recommend going to the Golden Unicorn! You might have to wait a bit, but the meal is well worth it.
